Family Christmas Time
On Saturday, December 27th, we were able to spend time with Mom and Dad, Brad, Tiffany, Madison, Cadmium, Cumorah, and Miles. We had our traditional breakfast of strata and our dinner of honey-baked ham. In between the traditional meals we had fun playing Wii Music, opening presents and just enjoying time talking. It was a nice relaxed day and always look forward to spending time with family. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Christmas 2008

As 7:00 pm approached our little home, we prepared for Santa to come. We placed cookies out for Santa's long ride and also put some carrots out on the door for the reindeer. After being nestled in our beds until 7:30 am we awoke to find presents for Phoenix under the tree. Phoenix was one lucky boy. He recieved a Baby Einstein video, blocks, a tool bag, and an activity center that he can either kneel at or walk with. It was a wonderful Christmas morning.
Mike's present to Kerilyn
On December 1st, we were able to purchase a Mazda5 microvan. We needed a safer and better economical car for our little family. Mike has always wanted to portray those commercials where you see a hubby who presents a new car to his wife with a big red bow on it. As Mike would say, since Wisconsin is a community property state, we had to buy it together, but he went out and bought a big bow for the car to present to me for Christmas.

Christmas with Gamma Chris and Ted

Today was our annual Christmas get together with "Gamma" Chris and Ted Eynik in Gurnee Mills, Illinois. We meet there yearly to exchange gifts, get a bite to eat, and enjoy one another's company. This year was no different except for the fact that the drive was a little slower due to the weather being windy, snowy, and very cold! Mike, Phoenix and I are very appreciative for the gifts that we lovingly received. Phoenix is facinated by his Elmo Live that he got. After our get together we made it home safely, thanks to Mike's safe driving preventing us from being involved in an accident we witnessed just about 50 feet in front of us. After calling 911 and reporting the accident, we arrived at our warm home. Our evening was spent putting pictures on our digital picture frame and playing with Elmo. It was a great day and thank the Eynik's for the gifts that we received.

First Picture with Santa!
Phoenix's first picture with Santa.
Isn't he cute!!! Santa said that he is sure that Phoenix was a good boy, to which I replied that he has been absolutely wonderful and we are completely spoiled. I am sure that Santa will get Phoenix something very nice that will help him learn how to walk!!!

Exactly 365 days ago...

Phoenix was born at 6:00 am one year ago at 3lbs 14 oz
and this is Phoenix at 6:00 am on his first birthday at around 15 lbs.
Isn't he sweet!!!!
(My friend had this wonderful idea of taking a picture of their little one on their birthday at the time that they were born. So, I thought I would create this tradition in our home.)

Phoenix's First Birthday Party

Phoenix's 1st birthday is on Monday the 24th. This weekend we were able to have a little birthday party for him. It was great! I was surprised by my best friend Renae and her mother who showed up for the celebration. We had a nice lunch of taco sundaes followed by cake. Phoenix did great and loved his chocolate cake. Next, presents... We thank Gammy and Gampy Bound who got Phoenix a "Cars" Lightning McQueen chair and a Baby V-Tech. We also loved Phoenix's two new outfits and bath toy from Renae and her mother. We had a great day and can't believe that it has been a year already since our little miracle joined our family.

Halloween 2008

Halloween night our church had a harvest festival where there was trunk-or-treating. We first enjoyed a nice chili dinner and then went outside for some treats. Phoenix had a great night and mommy and daddy enjoyed some candy, ha, ha. I just love these experiences and can't wait for next year where he really knows what's going on.Saturday, October 25

Since we picked pumpkins at Meadowbrook Farm, I guess the next thing to do was to carve them. Most people draw faces on their pumpkins and that is what I did with my pumpkin this year. However, usually our tradition is to find a stencil on the internet, trace it with a poker and then carve it. Phoenix's pumpkin was a Micky Mouse face and Mike carved an LA Dodgers logo. It was so much fun. Of course Phoenix really didn't know what was going on, but he knows mom and dad had fun.

Here's a little cute story from today... It was the beginning of a work day and Phoenix had just finished his breakfast and Phoenix and my mom had settled in for a few phone calls for work. Mom was talking to dad on the phone about a call that she had received from a client with Phoenix rolling around on the floor, as he likes to do so well. Mom heard Phoenix fuss, but she didn't pay much attention because there was no reason for it. Then he called out again. Mom looked over to him and he was rolling something around in his mouth with his tongue. Mom thought, uh-oh, and made dad wait for a minute. Mom stuck her finger in his mouth and swabbed out of his mouth an Altoid, a curiously strong peppermint. Phoenix was holding his mouth open with eyes watering and when mom tried to stick his pacifier in his mouth to calm him, he couldn't even hold on to the pacifier, his mouth was so numb. Mom picked him up to cuddle and he burped. His breath smelled of strong mint. Not until 5 minutes later, could he even hold on to his pacifier after having recovered from his experience. Mom called me at work to tell me the story. After chuckling, I said "looks like you're going to have to keep the floor picked up mom." What was funny, looking back, was that my father had these Altoid's in his church clothes pocket and after emptying his pockets, the Altoid fell onto the floor from his desk. My mother saw it the other day and didn't think anything of it, but after this episode, she knew right where it was and what was in his mouth.
Phoenix is doing well following this torture and although he had this experience, we are proud he is doing so good with his fine motor skills.

Today was Cumorah's Baptism and we were able to go down to Illinois to spend this special day with Brad, Tiffany, and family. Cumorah was so sweet and thoughtful and very pretty in her white dress. The baptism was very touching. We were also able to listen to a sweetly sung song "Baptism" performed by Cadmium and Cumorah. It was great to be with family and especially wonderful to share this experience with our niece Cumorah. Friday, October 17
A Day At Meadowbrook Farm

Today we decided to go to Meadowbrook Farm in West Bend and enjoy some fall activities. We had initially gone to the farm to pick pumpkins and go on a hay ride. However, Mike wanted to go through the corn maze and I agreed that that was a good idea. Unfortunately, it wasn't a corn maze, but a haunted corn field. As much as we appreciated the creativity of the designers and their scary, gruesome, and horrific scenes, we were glad that we went during the day! Kudos to those who can walk through the paths in the dark of night!!!Picking Pumpkins

We were able to go to the pumpkin patch by taking a tractor wagon driven by "Farmer Steve." It was great! This was the first time that Mike or I can remember going to a pick-your-own-pumpkin patch. We found great pumpkins and Phoenix loved "Farmer Steve." It was a great day and we will continue this tradition throughout the years.Sunday, October 12
Scarecrow Fest
It has been a tradition for our little family for the past 4 years to attend ScarecrowFest in St.Charles, Illinois. What is ScarecrowFest you ask? Well, people, companies, children, etc. create scarecrows and they are entered in various categories, ie. mechanical, whimsical, childrens', business, etc. After people tour the block and see all the scarecrows in the different categories, they vote on their favorites. On Sunday, the winner is announced. Mike's friends Christine and Ted create a mechanical scarecrow every year and we have fun going to see them and the display.
Ted's theme this year was "Born to be Wild." There was the song "Born to be Wild" in the background. The motorcycle tires spun, the rib-cage & exhaust pipes had lights in them, and the werewolf steered the chopper right and left. In addition, the she-wolf's hand waved back and forth to the passers-by and she listened to a boom box that lit up. At night, the background had a house with windows, a moon and pumpkins that lit up.
Phoenix also loved playing with Gamma Chris and the blue Jedi Lightsaber & green glow-in-the-dark necklaces daddy bought for him. We had lots of fun and hope that we can continue the tradition. Ted's Chopper Scarecrow won 1st Place! Yay Ted!!!!
